In-app purchases from mobile gaming apps seem to be highly popular. Namely, in 2020, this segment went up by an incredible 35% y-o-y and thus exceeded $100 billion for the first time.
The US accounted for 28% of global mobile game spending in 2020, but mobile gaming is prominent all around the world. In fact, Asia is the biggest market regarding the number of mobile gaming users this year.
The trend from last year is on an upward path. According to Sensor Tower, in-app purchases from mobile gaming apps in 2021 should see a rise of nearly 22% and revenue worth more than $133 billion.
As for the upcoming period, the projection for 2021–2025 is a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.07%. That way, the segment should stand at some $195.6 billion by the end of the forecast period.
Furthermore, the number of mobile gaming app downloads is also projected to hit an all-time high of 116 billion by the end of the year, since the 100-billion download mark has already been reported.
In 2021–2025, this number should go up at a CAGR of 9.23% and surpass 165 billion downloads by the end of 2025.
Since the total number of mobile gamers in 2021 is estimated at 2.6 billion, these projections aren’t exactly surprising.
