The LPGA Tour reached a multi-year agreement with BetMGM, making it the Tour’s first official betting operator and partner. That makes the LPGA the latest organization to take advantage of the growing sports betting market, which takes about 30-40% of world gambling revenue.
With this agreement, BetMGM will feature odds of the PGA Tour, the European Tour, and other tournaments and events. The betting operator will also have the rights to use the LPGA logos for promotional purposes.
Through its partnerships with MGM Resorts, BetMGM will also have access to existing sponsorship with some star players like Cristie Kerr, Natalie Gulbis, Danielle Kang, and others. Some of them are golf ambassadors for the resort.
MGM Resorts has already partnered with the LPGA for the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play, Hosted by Shadow Creek, the first match-play tournament since 2017. It will be held on May 26–30.
This deal expands the BetMGM portfolio of sports partnerships. The company is the official sports betting partner of the NBA, NHL, MLS, MLB, and WNBA and has deals with NASCAR and the PGA Tour.
Even during the pandemic, the golf industry has grown in revenue. This deal will further boost that trend, and it will also help popularize women’s golf.
