Hard Rock International, the parent company of Hard Rock Cafes and Casinos, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. The company announced that it had reached an agreement with Leo Messi, one of the world’s best soccer players, to be its global brand ambassador.
Even the people that have never been to Hard Rock have seen their iconic T-shirts. History says that the shirts were first introduced in the early 1970s by the London branch as a sponsorship deal with a local soccer club.
The leftover shirts were given to loyal customers, and the demand was so high, the cafe set up a separate merchandise shop.
The deal with Messi, who plays for Barcelona, one of the highest valued and known soccer clubs globally, will include merchandise with the player’s most famous symbols, including the lion, his logo, and the number 10.
Messi will also be part of a commercial about the company’s 50th anniversary and the “Live Greatness” campaign. Last but not least, in August, a Messi burger will be added to the Cafe’s menu.
If you’re not familiar with the Hard Rock brand, it operates in 239 locations in 68 countries. Those locations include owned/licensed cafes, casinos, shops, and live venues. It has received multiple awards for service, management, and employment.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida owns the company, and its flagship hotel is shaped like a guitar, something none of the over 2,100 casinos in the US can say.
