Millions of people consider watching the NFL as big of a tradition as the Thanksgiving turkey itself. This year, once again, we had a triple header with all away teams taking the W back home.
All six teams — the Lions, Bears, Cowboys, Raiders, Bills, and Saints came from a loss the week before and needed a win. The Bears won 16-14 against Detroit with a last-minute FG, the Raiders won 36-33 in OT, and the Bills dominated the Saints with a 31-6 result.
The team that started the Thanksgiving tradition, Detroit Lions, possibly needed a win the most, having a 0-9-1 record. The team led most of the game but eventually lost by a field goal as the clock expired.
The win saved the Bears coach’s job for at least another week, but the team didn’t look good. The Lions showed why they’re winless, with many penalties and bad coaching calls by the head coach, Dan Campbell.
In the afternoon game, the other traditional Turkey day team, the Dallas Cowboys, lost to the Raiders in OT, in a game marked by many penalties. Despite their late drive and forced OT, Dallas started the game slow and couldn’t take the win.
Some questions are raised on whether the Cowboys can be a serious contender for a playoff push. The world’s most valuable team has plenty of talent on the offense, but its defense needs to step up.
In the final game, the Buffalo Bills bossed the Saints with an easy win. Josh Allen had four touchdowns and showed why he was one of the highest fantasy QBs at the start of the season.
The Bills’ defense did a tremendous job of stopping the Saints’ short-handed offense. The win is a big confidence booster before the crucial Patriots game, determining who wins the division.
